What is laser dentistry?

It’s more comfortable than traditional dental treatment and doesn’t require any scraping, drilling, or other manual non-laser tools. Laser dentistry uses a handheld device that emits light energy using an intense, focused beam. The light produces a reaction when it comes in contact with your hard or soft tissues, allowing Dr. Fieldsmith to make modifications.

Dr. Fieldsmith uses hard tissue lasers for several reasons, including to prep and shape teeth, repair dental fillings, and remove decay.  

Soft tissue lasers

Soft tissue lasers use targeted light energy to correct issues affecting your gums, tongue, or inner cheeks. Dr. Fieldsmith uses this type of laser dentistry for periodontal treatment, including killing harmful bacteria and encouraging the growth of new, healthy tissue.
